Taiwan monitors increased Chinese military activity near its territory.
Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence reported heightened military activity from China, detecting 18 sorties of Chinese aircraft and 7 naval vessels around its territory, with 12 of the sorties crossing the median line into Taiwan’s Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ). This follows a pattern of increasing Chinese military maneuvers, which included 29 aircraft and 7 vessels earlier in the week. In response, Taiwan deployed Combat Air Patrol aircraft, naval ships, and coastal missile systems to monitor and respond to these provocations. The situation underscores rising tensions in the Taiwan Strait, exacerbated by China’s recent live-fire missile exercises in the Yellow Sea, reflecting broader geopolitical tensions in the region, particularly regarding China-Japan relations.
