Russia to ratify military pact with India before Putin's visit.

Russia’s lower house of Parliament is set to ratify the Reciprocal Exchange of Logistics Agreement (RELOS) with India ahead of President Vladimir Putin’s state visit on December 4-5, aimed at enhancing military cooperation. Signed in February 2025, RELOS seeks to streamline operations for joint military exercises and disaster relief, expanding the geographic capabilities for both nations. This agreement is particularly significant as it allows for logistical support between Indian naval forces, including the INS Vikramaditya, and Russian bases, enhancing their strategic presence against Chinese influence in the Indian Ocean Region. Analysts note that RELOS may also facilitate joint exercises in the Arctic, aligning with India’s energy interests in the region.
