India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently emphasized the nation’s commitment to peace while asserting that any challenges to its sovereignty will be met with decisive strength. Speaking at the Ran-Samwad 2025 seminar, he highlighted the necessity for ongoing enhancement of defense preparedness in today’s unpredictable geopolitical climate, where conflicts can arise suddenly and extend for prolonged durations. Singh pointed out that modern warfare is defined not only by traditional military might but increasingly by technology, including cyber capabilities and space-based operations. He praised the recent Operation Sindoor as a prime example of successful and integrated use of indigenous technology and joint operational strategies among the armed forces, underscoring the importance of self-reliance in defense production. Singh outlined the need for a whole-of-nation approach to security, reflecting a shift where national security transcends military responsibility and involves the entire populace. He called for readiness against various conflict scenarios, asserting that India does not covet foreign land, but will protect its own territory at all costs. The minister reiterated that the future of warfare will necessitate adaptability and a proactive stance, with a focus on defining battlefields and determining the rules of engagement. In doing so, India aims not only to secure its territorial integrity but also to emerge as a formidable global power through strategic mastery of technology, intelligence, and diplomatic engagement.
