Pakistan halts ties with Afghanistan after deadly border clashes, warns of renewed hostilities.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif announced a suspension of ties with Afghanistan following recent border clashes, stressing that hostilities could resume at any moment. He condemned Afghanistan for its unprovoked attack that led to the death of 23 Pakistani soldiers, accusing Kabul of harboring terrorist organizations such as ISIS and the Taliban. Asif asserted Pakistan’s military response was justified and effective, claiming significant damage was inflicted on Taliban positions. The broader significance lies in the deteriorating relations between the two nations and the potential for increased regional instability, particularly concerning terrorism emanating from Afghanistan, which poses a threat not only to Pakistan but to regional security as a whole.
