Navy Chief Tripathi hopeful for improved India-Bangladesh relations post-elections.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi has expressed optimism regarding India’s relations with Bangladesh, calling the country a friend despite recent turmoil following the toppling of the Sheikh Hasina government. He emphasized the importance of waiting for the upcoming parliamentary elections in February 2026 before making any definitive statements about the situation. Admiral Tripathi highlighted the historical ties between the two nations and noted that collaboration continues through training programs, including Bangladeshi cadets graduating from the National Defence Academy. Addressing regional security challenges, he acknowledged the Pakistan Navy’s advancements in hypersonic missile technology and assured that Indian scientists are actively working on countermeasures, including the development of advanced underwater drones for anti-submarine warfare.
