Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to address global maritime challenges at the Maritime Information Sharing Workshop in Gurugram. He highlighted the Indian Ocean Region’s significance to global prosperity and the rising threats from piracy, smuggling, and geopolitical tensions. With participants from 29 countries, the workshop aims to enhance real-time information sharing and strengthen regional collaboration to safeguard vital maritime routes. Sobti underscored the interconnectedness of national security and economic stability through maritime safety, advocating for a cooperative approach reflective of the Indian philosophy “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which envisions the world as one family.
