Modi-Putin summit to strengthen India-Russia ties and defense collaboration.

The upcoming Modi-Putin summit is poised to reinforce the enduring Indo-Russian defence partnership, with India expected to seek substantial procurement deals, including additional S-400 air defence systems and Sukhoi-57 fighter jets. These initiatives build on the successful integration of advanced Russian-origin technology demonstrated during Operation Sindoor, where the BrahMos missile and S-400 systems were pivotal in neutralizing threats and enhancing operational capabilities. The summit will facilitate discussions on technology transfer and joint production, furthering India’s goal of self-reliance in defence through Aatmanirbhar Bharat. As India navigates complex geopolitical relationships, including heightened tensions with the West over Russian oil imports, its strategic autonomy remains central, balancing deepened ties with Russia while continuing to engage with Western powers. This approach underscores India’s commitment to preserving its strategic partnership with Moscow, which has historically provided critical technological support, while simultaneously adapting to the evolving global defence landscape.
