Jaishankar criticizes UN for failing to address global security priorities.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has expressed concerns over the United Nations’ effectiveness, stating that its decisions often fail to reflect global priorities, particularly in the context of terrorism. He highlighted the shielding of a terror group by a UN Security Council member in relation to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, questioning the credibility of multilateralism. During the UN’s 80th anniversary in New Delhi, Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s commitment to peacekeeping and multilateral cooperation, emphasizing the need for reform within the UN. His remarks underscore the challenges facing international institutions and the pressing need for an effective global strategy that prioritizes security and development for the Global South amidst ongoing conflicts.
