India Rejects Erdogan's Kashmir Remarks, Affirms Sovereignty

India has firmly rejected Turkish President Erdogan’s remarks at the UNGA regarding Kashmir, emphasizing that the region is an integral part of India and dismissing any suggestions for third-party mediation. The External Affairs Ministry underscored that Pakistan’s role in fostering terrorism is the real issue affecting Jammu and Kashmir, urging Turkey to recognize this instead of commenting on India’s internal matters. India’s rapid and strong protest against Erdogan’s comments reflects its commitment to sovereignty and territorial integrity while simultaneously engaging with global partners, such as the US and Cyprus, to enhance cooperation and support multilateral efforts. This incident highlights the complexities of South Asia’s strategic environment, particularly in light of growing defense ties between Turkey and Pakistan.
