India finalizes Su30MKI deal with Armenia to counter Pakistan-Azerbaijan alliance.

India is poised to finalize a significant deal to supply Su30MKI fighter jets to Armenia, valued between $2.5 to $3 billion. This acquisition marks Armenia’s largest military procurement since the Soviet Union’s dissolution and signals a strategic pivot towards India amid declining confidence in Russian support, especially in light of Azerbaijan’s recent military advances. The Su30MKI, equipped with advanced technology like the Uttam AESA radar and Astra missiles, would enhance Armenia’s air combat capabilities against Azerbaijan’s newly acquired JF17C fighters from Pakistan. This partnership not only bolsters India’s reputation as a credible aerospace exporter but also serves to counterbalance growing Pakistan-Azerbaijan military ties, reinforcing India’s geopolitical influence in the Caucasus region.
