India and Saudi Arabia form joint group to enhance maritime ties
India and Saudi Arabia have established a Joint Working Group (JWG) to enhance bilateral maritime cooperation, following a high-level virtual meeting between Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Saudi Minister Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser. This move is part of a broader strategic partnership, highlighting historical ties and mutual interests in the shipping and logistics sectors. With Saudi Arabia being India’s fifth-largest trading partner, the nations aim to harmonize their maritime visions and explore investment opportunities within India’s port ecosystem, including notable projects like the Vadhavan Port. This collaboration is poised to significantly streamline trade routes and bolster economic ties between the two countries.
