India and Greece launch first naval exercise, boosting Mediterranean ties

India and Greece have successfully concluded their inaugural naval exercise, enhancing their strategic partnership in the Mediterranean. Conducted in two phases from September 13 to 18, the exercise involved the Indian Navy’s INS Trikand and the Hellenic Navy’s Themistokles and Pipinos, focusing on fostering operational synergy through cross-deck visits and complex maritime manoeuvres, including joint Anti-Submarine Warfare and replenishment-at-sea procedures. This exercise reflects the growing convergence of both nations on maritime security and highlights their shared interests in ensuring safety and freedom of navigation. The collaboration not only validates the operational capabilities of both navies but also underscores the significance of international partnerships in addressing regional security challenges.
