India and Brunei have inaugurated their first Joint Working Group (JWG) on Defence Cooperation in New Delhi, marking a significant advancement in military ties. The discussions, co-chaired by India’s Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence and Brunei’s Deputy Permanent Secretary, focused on enhancing military engagement, maritime security, and new areas for defence technology collaboration. Both nations reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific and emphasized the importance of strengthening regional security mechanisms amidst evolving strategic challenges.
