Geopolitics and Security Alliances

Former Pakistani FM urges US to assess Pakistan beyond India.

Hina Rabbani Khar, former Pakistani Foreign Minister, criticized India as a “belligerent” state for its cross-border strikes and urged the U.S. to view Pakistan independently rather than through the lens of its rivalry with India. She emphasized Pakistan’s role in counterterrorism and regional stability, arguing that it remains crucial to U.S. interests. Khar defended Pakistan’s deep partnership with China, portraying it as a stabilizing force amidst geopolitical tensions. She warned of the dangers posed by military escalation between nuclear-armed neighbors and called for a reevaluation of U.S. policy in South Asia, highlighting the complexities of regional dynamics beyond India-Pakistan relations.
