European nations discuss 'drone wall' to counter airspace violations.
European nations bordering Russia and Ukraine convened to discuss the establishment of a “drone wall” to enhance their defenses amid rising airspace violations, notably attributed to rogue drones. Countries such as Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland are collaborating on this initiative; however, their previous request for EU funding was rejected. The European Commission has now allocated €6 billion to bolster drone capabilities, particularly in support of Ukraine’s military efforts against Russian forces. This meeting underscores the urgent need for integrated defense mechanisms in Europe, as highlighted by EU Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius, aiming to ensure a collective response to threats along NATO’s eastern flank and solidify Europe’s defensive posture.
