External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar hosted a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) in New York, emphasizing a “people-centric” agenda focused on health, technology, and capacity building. This meeting coincided with the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, where Jaishankar highlighted the progress of the 12-point action plan unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the FIPIC-III Summit in 2023. The plan aims to enhance collaboration in areas such as healthcare, renewable energy, and cyber-security, reinforcing India’s commitment as a development partner to Pacific Island nations.
