China Delivers Third Hangor-Class Submarine to Pakistan
China has delivered the third of eight advanced Hangor-class submarines to Pakistan, enhancing Islamabad’s naval capabilities amid ongoing tensions in the Indian Ocean. This move is part of China’s broader strategy to bolster Pakistan’s maritime strength, which includes supplying naval frigates and advanced fighter jets. Pakistan’s Deputy Chief of Naval Staff emphasized the submarine’s sophisticated weaponry and sensors as vital for regional power balance. Given that over 81% of Pakistan’s military hardware comes from China, this growing military collaboration poses strategic challenges for India, necessitating a robust response in enhancing its own naval and aerial capabilities to maintain regional stability and deterrence.
