Canadian PM Carney to visit India in 2026, enhancing ties.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has accepted an invitation from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit India in early 2026, following productive bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the G20 summit in South Africa. The leaders emphasized strengthening cooperation in defense and space sectors, alongside advancing trade, investment, technology, and energy ties. They also agreed to initiate negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) covering a range of sectors, demonstrating a commitment to revitalizing India-Canada relations, which had been strained after allegations made by former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2023. The revival of high-level engagements and law enforcement dialogues indicates a positive trajectory towards normalized relations.
