BRICS Summit Focuses on Trade and Economic Cooperation Among Members

The recent BRICS virtual summit, represented by India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, emphasized the need for economic cooperation among member countries amidst global challenges. Jaishankar advocated for fair and transparent trade practices and resilient supply chains, positioning India as a proponent of inclusive economic reforms. Brazilian President Lula echoed these sentiments, underscoring the necessity for a just international order that addresses the needs of the Global South. The leaders collectively reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism, aiming to enhance global governance and provide cooperative solutions to shared challenges, thereby strengthening BRICS as a counterweight to Western dominance in international platforms.
