Bangladesh Army Chief may skip India’s UN troop chiefs conclave amid strained ties.
Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman is reportedly unlikely to attend the United Nations Troop Contributing Countries (UNTCC) Chiefs Conclave in New Delhi from October 14 to 16, amid strained bilateral relations following the formation of Bangladesh’s interim government. An unnamed official indicated that a junior officer may represent Bangladesh instead. The conclave, hosted by India, aims to enhance dialogue and cooperation among military leaders from over 30 nations, reaffirming India’s commitment to UN peacekeeping and its significant role as a major troop contributor. This development underscores the importance of regional military cooperation and India’s proactive stance in maintaining peace and stability through international frameworks, despite challenges in diplomatic ties with neighboring countries.
