Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has reported significant improvements in India-China relations over the past year, attributing this positive change to increased communication at various levels between the two nations. Following a series of high-level meetings, including a notable encounter between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping in Kazan in October 2024, both countries have made strides in resolving their differences, particularly after the disengagement of troops from standoff points in eastern Ladakh. General Dwivedi highlighted that over the last year, there have been approximately 1,100 interactions between Indian and Chinese troops, expanding discussions from the Corps Commander level down to battalion and company commanders. He emphasized that dialogue remains critical for finding solutions to ongoing conflicts, marking a potential turning point in bilateral relations. These developments are significant as they reflect a steady move towards de-escalation and constructive dialogue, which could enhance regional stability and foster a more cooperative framework for future engagements between the two major Asian powers.
