Afghanistan urges Pakistan to halt land and air border violations in peace talks.

In a bid to foster peace, Afghanistan and Pakistan have engaged in lengthy discussions in Istanbul, presenting draft proposals aimed at resolving tensions along their borders. Afghanistan’s delegation has called for an end to violations of its airspace and land borders, while Pakistan seeks to address concerns regarding incursions from Afghan territory. The negotiations, mediated by Qatar and Turkiye, follow a recent ceasefire agreement amidst heightened border clashes. Notably, both parties are contemplating the establishment of a four-party monitoring channel to oversee compliance with the ceasefire terms. This dialogue is crucial as it reflects ongoing efforts to stabilize the region and mitigate conflicts that could affect broader geopolitical dynamics, especially in the context of regional security and counter-terrorism.
