Afghanistan condemns Pakistani airstrikes on civilians, vows timely response.

The Afghan government has condemned recent Pakistani airstrikes that killed ten civilians, including nine children, in Khost province, labeling the actions as a violation of Afghanistan’s territorial integrity and a humanitarian tragedy. Government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid emphasized the necessity of a timely response, framing the strikes as part of a broader pattern of aggression, which heightens regional instability. Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai and ex-U.S. envoy Zalmay Khalilzad have called for renewed diplomatic efforts, suggesting a Turkish-led mediation to address mutual security concerns. As tensions escalate, the risk of a wider regional confrontation grows, spotlighting the fragile security environment along the Afghan-Pakistani border.
