Parliamentary Defence Panel reviews AI cloud initiative for Armed Forces' modernization and self-reliance.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence has noted significant progress in the development of a high-power computing AI cloud for the Army, Navy and Air Force, calling it central to India’s drive for technologically driven self-reliance and 24×7 operational readiness. Presented in Parliament as part of action taken on Demands for Grants 2025-26, the report links the AI cloud and National Quantum Mission to future warfare domains such as space, cyberspace and unmanned systems, positioning India to narrow the technology gap with adversaries. The panel highlighted the Navy’s plan to reach 234 ships and submarines, with 61 warships under construction and contracts for 62 more vessels and 120 fast interceptor craft in advanced stages, almost entirely in Indian shipyards, underlining Aatmanirbhar Bharat in shipbuilding. It also welcomed expanding roles for women in the Army and an indigenous Su-30 upgrade programme led by HAL, DRDO and domestic industry.
