India-US military ties unaffected by trade tensions, says Defence Sec

India’s Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh stated that ongoing trade tensions with the U.S. do not affect military cooperation, which remains on schedule. He emphasized that high-level dialogues and supply chains, including the timely delivery of GE 404 engines for the Tejas Mark-IA and newly inducted Apache helicopters, are on track. Highlighting the recent Operation Sindoor, Singh acknowledged identified capability gaps, particularly in electronic warfare and drone defense, while stressing India’s need to enhance its air defense systems to protect critical infrastructure. The evolving geopolitical landscape necessitates a stronger focus on defense and military capability development.
