Defence Ministry exceeds 50% spending, boosting domestic defense projects and modernization efforts.

The Indian Ministry of Defence has surpassed 50% of its capital expenditure for FY 2025-26 by the end of September, utilizing Rs 92,211.44 crore of the allocated Rs 1,80,000 crore. This proactive spending is crucial for modernizing the Armed Forces, focusing on aircraft, ships, and advanced weapon systems. The Ministry’s commitment to domestic procurement is evident, with Rs 1,11,544.83 crore earmarked for local industries, promoting Aatmanirbharta in defense manufacturing. This trend not only enhances national security but also stimulates economic growth and job creation in the defense sector, reflecting the government’s strategic emphasis on self-reliance and robust defense capabilities.
