Army Chief: Emphasize Homegrown, Low-Cost, High-Tech Weapons
Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi emphasized the importance of developing home-grown weapons and integrating low-cost, high-tech solutions to enhance India’s defense capabilities against superior adversaries. He highlighted the need for collaboration among industry, academia, and the military to foster self-reliance, particularly in light of rapid technological advancements by adversaries. The Army aims for significant upgrades in weapon ranges, with targets set at 750 km for loitering munitions and 300 km for rockets, supported by projected annual defense spending of ₹3 lakh crore over the next decade.
