VyomIC to launch India's first private GPS constellation, enhancing precision PNT services.
Chennai-based startup VyomIC has announced plans to launch India’s first private satellite constellation focused on high-precision global positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services. Founded by IIT-Madras alumni, the venture aims to deploy a low Earth orbit network that provides centimeter-level accuracy and nanosecond timing precision, enhancing national resilience against disruptions and surpassing conventional GPS capabilities. With a funding round of USD 1.6 million, VyomIC seeks to develop indigenous PNT solutions, promoting synergies with ISRO and bolstering India’s geospatial economy, projected to reach $50 billion by 2030. This initiative aligns with the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign, positioning India as a key player in sovereign space capabilities and advanced defense logistics.
