US Army orders enhanced EW capability for GRAY EAGLE drone.

The US Army has recently awarded General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) a contract to enhance the MQ-1C GRAY EAGLE drone with a new open-architecture Electronic Warfare (EW) capability, adhering to the C5ISR Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS). This upgrade aims to improve deep sensing capabilities in the Pacific while enhancing the drone’s survivability and lethality. The integration of the SHARKCAGE Expeditionary C5ISR Chassis by AeroVironment Inc. will facilitate the addition of various CMOSS-compliant systems, streamlining upgrades and operational efficiency. This development underscores the US’s commitment to maintaining technological superiority, particularly in the strategically critical INDOPACOM region, reflecting broader trends in modern warfare focusing on modular, adaptable systems.
