US approves $330 million military sale to Taiwan under Trump.

The U.S. has approved a potential military sale of $330 million worth of fighter jet spare parts to Taiwan, marking the first such transaction under President Trump. This sale aims to enhance Taiwan’s military capabilities by ensuring the operational readiness of its fleet, including F-16 and C-130 aircraft, amidst ongoing tensions with China, which asserts sovereignty over Taiwan. Despite fears in Taiwan of a possible compromise during Trump’s discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping, the U.S. remains Taiwan’s key arms supplier, reflecting its commitment to support the island’s defense against potential aggression. This development underscores the intricate geopolitical dynamics in the region and reinforces Taiwan’s strategic importance in U.S. foreign policy.
