Turkey signs £8 billion deal with UK for 20 Eurofighter jets.

Turkey and the UK have formalized an agreement worth £8 billion (approximately $9 billion) for the purchase of 20 Eurofighter Typhoon jets, marking the first new order for these aircraft since 2017. The deal, signed during British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s inaugural visit to Turkey, aims to enhance Turkey’s air capabilities and strengthen NATO’s collective security. Both leaders emphasized the strategic partnership between their nations, with Starmer noting that the agreement will not only bolster defense cooperation but also secure 20,000 jobs in the UK. This development underscores Turkey’s commitment to modernizing its military capabilities while reinforcing its alliances within NATO, which may have implications for regional security dynamics.
