Tejas Mk1A and Mk2 Missiles Upgrade: Strategic Edge for IAF
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to enhance its combat capabilities significantly with the integration of the indigenous Astra Mk3 (Gandiva) and European MBDA Meteor missiles on the Tejas Mk1A and Mk2 fighter jets. This advancement could compel the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to operate defensively due to the superior range and technology of these missiles, which significantly outmatch the PAF’s existing arsenal. The Gandiva boasts a range of up to 340 km, while the Meteor can exceed 200 km, allowing IAF jets to engage threats deep within Pakistani airspace. This shift not only strengthens India’s air dominance but also poses a strategic challenge to the PAF, highlighting potential vulnerabilities in its defense posture amid evolving regional security dynamics.
