Taiwan advances T-Dome missile defense system to strengthen security against China.

On October 10, 2025, Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te announced the development of the T-Dome missile defense system, designed to enhance the island’s defense capabilities against growing threats from China. Modeled on Israel’s Iron Dome, T-Dome aims to integrate advanced technologies to counter various aerial threats, signaling Taiwan’s strategy of asymmetric warfare amidst increased military provocation from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). With plans to increase defense spending significantly, Taiwan’s commitment to national security is underscored as Beijing criticizes the initiative, claiming it heightens regional tensions. This development is critical for maintaining stability in the Indo-Pacific, as Taiwan seeks to bolster its sovereignty and deter aggression in its air defense zone.
