Su-30MKI to Achieve 75% Indigenous Avionics by 2030
The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is set to further indigenize the avionics of the Su-30MKI fighter aircraft, with plans to achieve nearly 75% indigenization by 2030, following successful integration of the BrahMos missile. HAL’s CEO, Saket Chaturvedi, highlighted the importance of technology transfer from Russia, which facilitated this progress. Additionally, a ceremony to mark the phasing out of the MiG-21 is scheduled for September 26, 2025, while the MiG-29s will remain operational with the Indian Air Force and the Navy. This strategic move underscores India’s commitment to enhancing indigenous defense capabilities and reducing reliance on foreign technology.
