Ship design workshop boosts India's self-reliance in naval capabilities.
The Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) in Visakhapatnam hosted a ship design workshop aimed at enhancing India’s indigenous ship design capabilities, aligning with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The event brought together over 100 stakeholders, including representatives from the Indian Navy, defence public sector undertakings, and academia, to foster collaboration and innovation in naval design, particularly in integrating emerging technologies like AI and sustainable materials. Key discussions centered on establishing a roadmap for joint R&D, focusing on areas such as digital design frameworks and integrated testing infrastructure. This workshop signifies a critical step in strengthening India’s maritime self-reliance, reaffirming the commitment of DRDO and the Navy to advance the nation’s ship design ecosystem.
