Samsung Heavy Industries has entered into a partnership with India’s Swan Defence and Heavy Industries to enhance shipbuilding and offshore engineering capabilities, following a memorandum of understanding (MOU). This collaboration aims to leverage Swan Defence’s extensive facilities, including India’s largest dry dock, to strengthen Samsung’s presence in the rapidly developing Indian maritime sector. The Indian government has announced plans to invest approximately Rs 1.82 lakh crore in shipbuilding, aiming to position the country among the top five global shipbuilders by 2030, as part of its Maritime India Vision 2030 initiative. This transformative effort reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on establishing a robust maritime ecosystem, underscoring India’s commitment to enhancing its strategic capabilities in maritime defense and international trade.
