Russia Proposes T-14 Armata to Replace India's Aging T-72 Tanks

Russia’s Uralvagonzavod has proposed its advanced T-14 Armata tank to meet the Indian Army’s Next Generation Main Battle Tank (NGMBT) needs, aiming to replace the aging T-72 fleet. This collaboration emphasizes “Make in India” by potentially involving Indian firms in the development process, with a goal of enhancing indigenous production and technology transfer. The T-14 offers significant customization options, including integration with India’s DATRAN-1500HP engine, and features advanced technologies like an unmanned turret and active protection systems, making it a strong candidate for modernizing India’s armored capabilities while boosting defense self-reliance.
