Rolls-Royce expands Bengaluru hub, boosting India's defense ties.
British industrial technology company Rolls-Royce has expanded its global capability and innovation centre in Bengaluru, marking it as the company’s largest hub globally. This facility will enhance support for civil, defence, and power systems businesses, employing over 3,000 people in India, including 2,000 engineers. The expansion aligns with Rolls-Royce’s plan to double sourcing from India in the next five years, emphasizing the country’s integral role in its global supply chain. Karnataka’s industries minister highlighted the state’s prominence in the aerospace and defence sector, which constitutes 65% of India’s contributions to these fields, showcasing India’s burgeoning aerospace ecosystem and the strategic partnership between Rolls-Royce and the Indian defense forces.
