Rajnath Singh lauds indigenous parachute system as a key defense milestone for India.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the successful development of the indigenous Military Combat Parachute System (MCPS), calling it a significant milestone for India’s defense capabilities and self-reliance. The parachute system, which enables combat free-fall jumps from altitudes of 32,000 feet, enhances the operational readiness of Indian special forces in high-altitude environments, particularly the Himalayas. Its integration with India’s Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) system ensures secure positioning during operations, reducing reliance on foreign technologies. This achievement underscores India’s commitment to developing advanced indigenous defense technologies, aligning with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, and ensuring sustained operational capabilities amidst geopolitical challenges.
