Rafael proposes to swiftly integrate Sky Sting BVRAAM with Tejas Mk1A

RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems has proposed the integration of its Sky Sting beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) with the Indian Air Force’s Tejas Mk1A light combat aircraft, promising rapid deployment within 18 months post-trials. The Sky Sting, featuring a 250 km range and sophisticated electronic counter-countermeasures, significantly enhances the Tejas’ capabilities against advanced threats, particularly from China. This collaboration aims to deepen Indo-Israeli defense ties and could potentially equip the Su-30MKI fleet as well. Such developments are crucial for the IAF, addressing current capability gaps while supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative for local content, thereby bolstering India’s strategic defense posture in a challenging regional environment.
