Pune Army Base Workshop completes overhaul of VT-72B vehicle
The 512 Army Base Workshop in Pune has successfully completed the pilot overhaul of the vintage Armoured Recovery Vehicle VT-72B under Project Lotus, enhancing operational readiness and extending the vehicle’s service life. This initiative underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to self-reliance in defense, reducing reliance on imports and optimizing lifecycle costs. The overhaul ensures that critical battlefield support capabilities for frontline tanks are maintained, reflecting the technical expertise of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers. Lieutenant General Amardeep Singh Aujla emphasized that this achievement showcases indigenous efforts and strengthens the resolve towards Atmanirbhar Bharat in defense.
