Pentagon creates online marketplace for effective counter-drone technology procurement.

On November 13 and 14, 2025, the U.S. Department of Defense and the Army announced the establishment of a centralized online marketplace for counter-drone equipment, initiated by a joint interagency task force known as JIATF 401. This platform aims to streamline the procurement of counter-drone technologies for military installations, the FBI, and Homeland Security, allowing for the selection of tailored systems that prioritize electronic jamming and non-explosive responses to protect critical U.S. infrastructure. With small unmanned aerial systems posing increasing threats, the initiative is designed to enhance domestic security by providing rapid access to effective counter-UAS solutions, ensuring interoperability and standardization in testing and evaluation. The U.S. effort aligns with global military trends emphasizing layered defense and real-time situational awareness, paralleling India’s robust advancements in indigenous counter-drone capabilities, such as the SAKSHAM system and the Sudarshan Chakra air defense project, highlighting the strategic imperative for nations to develop comprehensive defenses against emerging aerial threats.
