Paras Defence, DRDO sign deal for indigenous T-90 tank night vision systems.

Paras Defence and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) signed a significant licensing agreement on November 25, 2025, for the transfer of technology of the Driver Night Sight (DNS) system used in the Indian Army’s T-90 main battle tanks. This deal allows Paras Defence to manufacture the DNS system indigenously, enhancing the operational capabilities of the T-90 tanks by enabling effective navigation and targeting in low-light and night-time conditions. The DNS system utilizes advanced optronic and thermal imaging technology, which significantly boosts the tanks’ all-weather combat readiness and situational awareness. This collaboration underscores the commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat by reducing dependency on imported defence technologies and strengthening India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem. Paras Defence’s growing portfolio in electro-optics and defence electronics positions it as a vital player in India’s indigenous defence production efforts. The technology transfer is expected to contribute to the modernization of India’s armoured forces, especially along crucial borders, bolstering strategic autonomy and self-reliance in defence technology. Earlier in November 2025, Paras Defence also secured a Rs 71.68 crore contract from DRDO for submarine optronic periscopes, signaling expanding capabilities in defence manufacturing. This partnership reflects robust synergy between the public and private sectors to advance India’s defence technology base.
