Navy orders ₹1,400 crore from start-ups to enhance indigenous defense innovation.
The Indian Navy has placed procurement orders worth 1,400 crore with 16 start-ups and MSMEs since 2018 as part of its initiative to enhance self-reliance and innovation in defense. Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan announced that over 2,700 crore in proposals have received Acceptance of Necessity under the iDEX framework, highlighting the launch of over 565 challenges aimed at addressing emerging security needs. The upcoming Swavlamban 2025 seminar will showcase these innovations and facilitate connections between Indian innovators and international defense partners, emphasizing the Navy’s commitment to both military and civilian applications. This initiative underscores the broader goal of bolstering India’s defense export capabilities and fostering a robust ecosystem for maritime innovation.
