Morocco to Induct 400 Tata WhAP 88 Armored Vehicles for Fleet Upgrade

The Royal Moroccan Armed Forces (FAR) is set to modernize its fleet with the induction of 400 Tata Motors WhAP 88 wheeled armored platforms, replacing outdated French vehicles. This initiative, under a bilateral India-Morocco defense pact, aims to streamline logistics and enhance operational capabilities amid regional tensions. The WhAP 88, developed by India’s DRDO and Tata Advanced Systems, boasts versatile configurations, including light tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, ensuring enhanced firepower and crew survivability. The establishment of Tata’s overseas manufacturing unit in Morocco signifies a shift towards indigenous production, reducing reliance on European suppliers while fostering local industrial growth. This development is crucial for Morocco’s defense landscape, promoting self-reliance and strengthening ties with India in the defense sector.
