KSSL secures MoD contract for underwater systems, enhancing India's maritime defense.
Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd. (KSSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bharat Forge Limited, has secured a contract worth over Rs. 2,500 million from the Indian Ministry of Defence for the supply of underwater systems, with delivery slated for November 2026 under Fast Track procurement norms. KSSL, which has developed significant capabilities in unmanned marine systems over the past five years and has already supplied autonomous underwater vehicles to the Indian Navy, continues to focus on enhancing India’s maritime defense. This contract notably follows KSSL’s strategic acquisition of a 25% stake in Italian technology firm Edgelab S.p.A. in December 2024, which specializes in advanced marine platforms and integrated maritime security systems. This investment has bolstered KSSL’s position in underwater technology, enabling the company to align closely with the Indian Navy’s urgent operational needs and further advance domestic defense manufacturing, reinforcing India’s commitment to indigenous production and maritime security. The contract was signed on November 10, 2025, marking a significant step in KSSL’s growing footprint in defense technology.
