ISRO to Partner with Firms for On-Orbit Servicing Technologies
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to engage companies specializing in on-orbit servicing and refueling (OOSR) technologies, as announced by Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan. This initiative coincides with the inauguration of OrbitAID Aerospace’s new R&D facility in Bengaluru, which focuses on technologies for extending satellite lifetimes. The facility is a significant leap for India in the realm of space sustainability, following ISRO’s successful docking mission. OrbitAID aims to establish a manufacturing hub for propellant handling and satellite servicing, fostering a circular economy in the global space tech ecosystem and highlighting India’s commitment to advancing its space capabilities.
