India's LCH Prachand to Evolve as a Drone Hunter Against UAVs
India’s domestically developed Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), the ‘Prachand’, is set to enhance its capabilities significantly, evolving from a ground-attack specialist to a versatile aerial platform aimed at countering unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This upgrade, driven by lessons from recent conflicts and the increasing drone threats, particularly from adversaries like Pakistan, involves integrating advanced weapon systems and air-launched drones. The Prachand will now be capable of conducting intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance missions, and employing loitering munitions for precise strikes, solidifying its role as a multi-role aerial weapon system vital for India’s national defense strategy against emerging aerial threats.
