India's DAC to discuss major upgrades: LPDs, Pinaka rockets, MR-SAMs.

India’s Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) is set to discuss significant upgrades for the armed forces, including a ₹33,000 crore contract for four indigenous Landing Platform Docks (LPDs), new Pinaka rocket launchers for the Army, and medium-range surface-to-air missiles (MR-SAMs) for the Navy and Air Force. These projects, aimed at enhancing India’s self-reliance in defense, reflect a commitment to bolster the country’s military capabilities and operational readiness. The MR-SAM, capable of engaging threats at 100 kilometers, and the Pinaka system, with a firing range near 90 kilometers, will significantly enhance aerial and artillery strike capabilities. Approval of these initiatives, expected by the Cabinet Committee on Security, will not only strengthen India’s defense posture but also stimulate its indigenous defense industry.
