Indian Type 214 Subs' German Stealth Enhances Underwater Invisibility Against China-Pak Threats.

In a strategic enhancement of its underwater capabilities, the Indian Navy is set to acquire six Type 214 diesel-electric submarines from Germany’s ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems under the Project 75I programme. This acquisition promises advanced stealth features, including a revolutionary “diamond” hull design and non-magnetic materials, significantly reducing detectability against Chinese and Pakistani anti-submarine warfare assets. Powered by an innovative Air-Independent Propulsion system, the submarines can operate undetected for extended periods, bolstering India’s maritime security amid growing threats in the Indian Ocean Region. With a 70% indigenous content requirement, this initiative also aligns with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, fostering domestic defense production capabilities.
